Resolving Conflicts by a Random Device

چکیده
We examine conflict resolution via a random device. We model conflict as a two-agent rent-seeking contest for a fixed prize. Before conflict arises, both agents may agree to allocate the prize by coin flip to avoid the costs of conflict. In equilibrium, risk-neutral agents with relatively symmetric conflict capabilities agree to resolve the conflict by randomization. However, with sufficiently asymmetric capabilities, conflicts are unavoidable because the stronger agent prefers to fight. Laboratory experiments confirm that the availability of the random device partially eliminates conflicts when agents are relatively symmetric; however, the device also reduces conflict between substantially asymmetric agents. Resolving Student-Parents Conflicts through the Improvement of Moral and Spiritual Intelligence
Resolving conflicts between students and their parents could lead to improvements in academic achievement. As a result, ways of helping with such an outcome are of significance. It can be hypothesized that improvements in moral and spiritual intelligence could lead to such resolutions. To explore this relationship, from among 450 high school students selected randomly, a group of 90 students wi...
متن کاملExplaining the Increasing Tolerance Threshold for Resolving Marital Conflicts with the Moderating Role of Religious Teachings (Case Study in a Military Unit)
Introduction: Family is established by the marriage contract. The emotional and rational health as well as the authority of the family depend on the members benefiting from insight and knowledge necessary to prevent deviations. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of increasing the tolerance threshold in solving marital conflicts with the moderating role of religious teachings. M...
متن کاملTruthDiscover: Resolving Object Conflicts on Massive Linked Data
Considerable effort has been made to increase the scale of Linked Data. However, because of the openness of the Semantic Web and the ease of extracting Linked Data from semi-structured sources (e.g., Wikipedia) and unstructured sources, many Linked Data sources often provide conflicting objects for a certain predicate of a real-world entity. Existing methods cannot be trivially extended to reso...
متن کاملPredicting Development Trajectories to Reduce Collaboration Conflicts
The benefits of collaborative development are reduced by the cost of resolving conflicts. We posit that reducing the time between when developers introduce and learn about conflicts reduces this cost. We outline the state-of-the-practice of managing and resolving conflicts and describe how it can be improved by available state-of-the-art tools. Then, we describe our vision for future tools that...
